Jiading indoor large-scale fire hall

A 20 MW indoor fire test hall with a 25 m × 25 m exhaust hood 25 m high, co-built with Tongji University and in service. Used for fire tests of commercial and industrial energy storage and of vehicles.

Purpose

Indoor large-scale fire tests are not affected by wind, rain or temperature, so repeated tests can be compared directly. That matters for research and for clients who need to show the effect of a design change. The hall was co-built with Tongji University and supports both commercial testing and joint research.

What it tests

  • Commercial and industrial energy storage cabinets: unit and installation-level fires, large-scale fire tests.
  • Vehicles: fire tests of electric vehicles and their battery packs.
  • Research: thermal runaway propagation, passive protection and the validation of fire simulation.
