What Is UL10B Certification?
ANSI/UL 10B:2015 (R2020) is a fire-testing standard for door assemblies, which is used to evaluate the fire resistance performance of doors. This standard has formulated a series of testing procedures and assessment methods to determine the performance and fire resistance of door assemblies under fire conditions. The primary objective of this standard is to ensure that door assemblies can effectively prevent the spread of fire during a fire incident, thus safeguarding lives and property.
Scope of Application for UL10B Certification: It applies to various materials and types of door assemblies installed in wall openings, including hinged doors, sliding doors or rolling shutters, horizontally sliding elevator doors, access doors, chute doors, utility doors, service counter doors, etc., as well as the hardware fittings for doors and door frames.
Specific Contents of the UL 10B Test
1.Fire Resistance Test: This test aims to assess the performance of the door under high-temperature conditions. The door is placed in a burning furnace and continuously exposed to high-temperature flames to measure its fire resistance.
2.Smoke Penetration Test: This test evaluates whether the door assembly can effectively prevent the spread of smoke during a fire. The door is tested under smoky conditions to determine its ability to resist smoke penetration.
3.Heat Resistance Test for Fire Doors: This test is designed to determine the thermal stability of the door under fire conditions. The door is tested under high-temperature conditions to ensure that its structure will not deform or crack.
4.Integrity Test of Door Assemblies: This test examines the integrity of the door during a fire, including the connection points between the door frame and the door leaf, ensuring that the door will not detach from the frame or suffer structural damage during a fire.
5.Hose Stream Test: After being heated, the door assembly is subjected to high-pressure water flow, with the pressure usually ranging from 30 to 120 psi. This step simulates the impacts and stresses experienced during actual firefighting operations and ensures the door's ability to withstand both thermal and mechanical stresses.
